I’m a little bit in love with this Ciate nail enamel in ‘Wait Until Dark’. Best part is it’s free (value £9) with the UK September issue of Marie Claire.
I usually feel a bit cheated with magazine freebies but I’m on a roll with this after last month’s gorgeous lipgloss.
The dark shimmering metallic purple appears almost black in the shadows, but when the light catches it – it’s really quite magical!
It has a semi matte finish, is highly pigmented and applies beautifully, almost opaque in one coat.
Can you see the violet-gold sparkles in this close up of my thumb nail? They are much more obvious as your hands move around…
These last two pictures show the polish with a glossy top coat. I’m currently using Orly Top2Bottom which I’m very impressed with, though need a quick drying one for when I’m in a rush. I have a bad habit of painting my nails when I’m just about to go out for the evening!
If this isn’t your kind of colour, a pale peachy nude, ‘My Fair Lady’ is the alternate freebie. It’s very pretty but I know some have found it takes a lot of coats to achieve opacity. You can see it here on Liloo’s blog.
Have you ever tried Ciate and were you impressed?
Oooh, no, but was hovering between Marie Claire and Elle this month for the nail polishes... and think this has swung itfor me :) Very pretty (and your nails are such a nice shape... I really have to spend more time with mine, hehe!)

Ooh my lincoln park after dark needs replacing - a good enough sub u reckon??
ReplyDeleteI think this is way more special than the Elle colours Carla - they didn't really excite me though the orange was nice. Thanks for your compliment on my nails I'm very chuffed as have been trying really hard to get them looking nice - I'm not great at shaping mine either though hoping the Leighton Denny crystal file I ordered today will help! :)
ReplyDeleteV I've never tried LPAD but really think you'd adore this! Plus it's free & there's lots of fab reading in the Sep MC too!
Nic xx
I got the nude one but after seeing this and other posts about this colour I'd nearly go and buy a second copy just to get it! It looks like it would be a gorgeous colour for autumn/winter as well!
