I’m sure it’s bad beauty blogger etiquette to have an everyday lipstick but I do tend to find a shade I love and wear it most days! Lately I’ve been alternating between this Bobbi Brown nude shade and my Make Up Forever pink which I’m also loving.
I knew Bobbi Brown lipsticks were supposed to be great but hadn’t tried one myself until I stumbled upon this while looking for something completely different. It was a new tester, so I applied it to my lips, loved the results and was stunned to find it still immaculate several hours later. Firmly in love I picked one up next time I was in House of Fraser.
I love the shape of the bullet - the slight curve makes it so much more comfortable to apply than a perfectly flat surface. Although the formula is the most long lasting I’ve tried, the texture is soft and creamy and feels invisible on the lips. It has a gentle fragrance, which I finally completely inoffensive and actually like.
Heavy and light swatches show the great pigmentation. Although this Lip Color is described as semi matte - and kind of is - it still manages to remain creamy and doesn’t dry my lips out at all.
With and without flash (& focus!). I’d describe this as a deep nude shade… it emphasises the lips rather than hiding them like lighter nudes, brightens the face and is much more forgiving and wearable than a berry shade. It’s really easy to apply - you don’t have to be too careful (which I love!) and can easily top it up without a mirror.
Although it looks slightly orangey in the bullet it isn’t at all on application… Bobbi Brown describes it as ‘a medium pink brown.’ I don’t find it pinky either I must say but I do think it’s especially flattering to light Winter skin tones and works well by day or night with a natural or smokey eye.
Brown #4 (the name makes me want to weep - it’s so much more than just ‘Brown’!!) cost £18.00 at House of Fraser. I can’t see it on their site but you can see it here at the Bobbi Brown website.
Do you like this shade and do you have an everyday favourite lipstick?
