This gorgeous collection featuring top SS 2012 nail trends includes 3 neon & 3 nude colours, which can be worn separately, as the mood takes you, or together in the most creative combination you dare to wear.
I love mini polishes, particularly for one season shades, such as the neons, which I personally wouldn’t sport in winter. Unless I was into winter sports. Which I’m not (and even if I was, I’d probably be wearing gloves)…moving on!
This little box of colour costs £22 for a dinky 6 x 4ml shades, named after some of London’s coolest areas:
Neons
- Portobello - coral/tangerine neon
- Notting Hill Gate - shocking pink neon
- Westborne Grove - yellow-orange neon
Nudes
- Porchester Square - pale grey/ mushroom
- Cadogan Square - classic camel (the one I expected to hate, but love)
- Jermyn Street - perfect taupe (one of my all time favourite neutrals)
Here they are again, individually named (I ‘kind of’ apologise for the multitude of pics in this post, but they are rather picturesque, don’t you think?) …
I love how the shades complement oneanother & think they’d look good combined like this, with an accent nail, alternative French mani or half moons…
Swatch time!
The polishes apply with ease; the nudes more than the neons. I guess they have to do something odd to the formula to acheive the neon effect. It took them 3 coats for opacity as opposed to 2 for the nudes. I suspect 4 would have been even better… I’d definitely wear these with a top coat, but wanted to let you see them in their ‘natural’ state. (Apols for strange application of Jermyn St - I had to clean up a mishap - hence the odd shape!)
Yes you’re right, there are 6 shades… but a. I only have 5 fingers per hand and b. I saved my favourite colour for a whole hand! (later…)
More pic overload…
So the missing colour in all of these is Portabello, my favourite of the set and the one that awoke me with a jump when I saw it on my nails this morning - hola my pretty! …
It’s difficult to capture the luminosity of a neon on camera… the daffodils were a vivid yellow and Portabello is a more vivid version of the shade you see here. I love it - the perfect SS shade! Def more pure neon orange/tangerine than coral in my book. The only colour I really wouldn’t wear out of this lot is Westbourne Grove, the yellow-orange, though I think it would look amazing on darker skin tones.

Which is your favourite… and could these shades slot into your SS collection? Thanks for reading - have a lovely weekend! Nic xx
