Two products have impressed my hair enough to make it into the second of my monthly Hair Hero series.
The first is Label M’s Therapy Age-Defying Recovery Mask. I’ve been using hair masks for around six months now… I didn’t think they would make that much of a difference, but they really do and I try to incorporate them around once a week to give my hair extra nourishment. I was a bit baffled by this Therapy range at first… I’m a fan of anti ageing products, but this was the first time I’d come across anti ageing for hair. The fact is that blow drying, hot styling tools, colouring and UV exposure all damage our hair and can cause anti ageing effects quicker than what you might imagine.
I’d used the other products in the range, which were lovely but didn’t blow me away. The mask did - big time! This professional strength mask contains white caviar to repair and restore damaged hair.
“With eight of the most technologically advanced Anti-ageing ingredients designed to reverse the visible signs of ageing, leaving hair looking strong, radiant and youthful. Designed to quickly transform weak, dull, aged hair into strong, radiant and youthful looking hair… also fantastic for use on hair longer then 15cms as this is also classed as aged hair.”
The texture is a rich gel cream and the fragrance is gorgeously sweet and powdery. I use a dessert spoon sized dollop and massage it into my hair after shampooing. I’m sure I ought to leave it on for longer, but a few minutes is all I usually have to spare! I could feel the hair softening as I applied it, but the best bit was that it stayed soft after I rinsed it out. I blow dried my hair roughly and left it to dry (my beloved Babyliss Big Hair is still poorly and not yet been replaced) with no other products as I wanted to see how this would perform on its own. My hair was soft, silky and almost frizz free. I was genuinely gobsmacked and was making everyone stroke it to see how soft it felt!
The bad news… this baby is expensive at £17.50 (ouch, I know!) BUT if you use it once a week it should last around 4 months, so just over £1 per use. Enabler, moi?! If you use tongs or hair straighteners regularly I’d def give this a go!
Therapy Age Defying Recovery Mask is available at Beauty Booth where I have experienced nothing short of fabulous customer service and free worldwide delivery!
The second item I’ve loved over the past month is Rahua shampoo & conditioner for healthy, lustrous hair.
100% organic, these nourishing products are ideal for colour treated hair and combine my two favourite elements in a beauty product: natural and luxury.
“Rahua oil fortifies weak, damaged strands while nourishing and regenerating the scalp and hair follicles. Palo Santo offers delicate fragrance providing a soothing aromatherapy experience while shampooing.”
I totally agree on the aromatherapy experience - the smell of the conditioner in particular is just sensational and lingers in my hair for ages. Rahua Oil is combined with aloe, green tea extract & jojoba oil to detangle and enhance colour depth. Rahua (pronounced Ra-wa) originates from Amazonian rainforests, where tribes have used it for years.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Megan Fox are fans… the girls have good taste.
The bad news: £26 & £27.50 (for an admittedly generous 275ml each) of shampoo and conditioner at Harrods’ Urban Retreat or online at Beautique.com
The good news: a travel sized set of 4 x 60ml bottles (£27) is available at Urban Retreat from May. The kit contains the classic shampoo and conditioner along with an equally lovely voluminous duo.
TopTip: *slips back into enabling mode*… the conditioners double-up as a styling product, to prevent frizz & add control to unruly locks without weighing them down.
More enabling?…. Amazon Beauty gives back a percentage of sales to their sister organisation, Ecoagents, a non-profit organization that aims to educate the Amazonian people about their human, ancestral land and intellectual property rights in order to preserve the rainforest.
Which hair products are you loving at the moment? Thanks for reading, Nic x
samples - I’m not made of money ;-) but would totally repurchase, esp the mask.
