Do you ever nonchalantly start playing around with makeup in a bit of a daydream, add a little more, wonder how that product would look with your new lipstick - and before you know it, an hour have passed? Add in that lightbulb moment when as a beauty blogger, you decide to photograph it all… (which takes another hour) and that’s how this look - and blog post - came about…
The first item was a grey eyeshadow palette by Green People, who I didn’t even realise made cosmetics until they contacted me last week. I was just hanging out with the kids on this particular day, so aimed for a daytime friendly smoky eye, nothing too in your face. I tried to keep the rest of my makeup soft and glowy, with a nude lip courtesy of Laura Mercier’s gorgeous Crème Smooth formula.
Green People Eco Eye Trio & Volumising Mascara
The eyeshadows are soft and velvety with a nice amount of colour payoff and minimal fallout. My eyes can be quite sensitive to eyeshadow, so I like the idea of a very natural product… teensy bit shimmery for a daytime look but by no means OTT.
Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lipstick: Angelic
Released earlier this year, Crème Smooth is a longwear, moisturising formula (perfect combo!) enriched with nourishing olive oil and vitamin E, so my lips were as happy as my eyes with all this natural goodness!
Gorgeously comfortable to wear, this peachy beige nude, Angelic, works well alone or under gloss; possibly a whisper pale for me, but works well with a smoky eye as I wanted to keep the rest of the look very soft. I think the slightly deeper Spiced Rose (a rosy beige) will be next on my to try list. I put a fine layer of my Laura Mercier natural lipliner underneath for a little extra definition around the edges and to increase lasting power even further.
A couple of pics with flash to let you see the shimmer in the light. I used the silvery tone all over my lid and blended the darkest shade into my crease, outer corners and to line my eyes, then blended a nude tone from my HD Brows Bombshell palette over the browbone and into the edges to tone down the shimmer a little.
The Face
To create a soft, natural finish I applied New CID Foundation, concealed shadows and redness with Liz Earle Perfect Fix concealer and added light around the eye area with Liz Earle Illuminating Concealer pen. I have both of these in the lightest shades and think they work brilliantly together. I added a little Daniel Sandler Watercolour blush in Charm to my cheeks and then patted a whisper of Miracle Glo from Lulu’s Timebomb range on cheekbones and browbones for a softening, radiant effect.
