I’m a little bit in love with this party perfect, glitter-tastic nail colour trio by Pixi. So much so that I had to swatch it for you last night between watching X-Factor and cooking Lorraine Pascale’s Whisky & Chilli Prawns, as you do (scrummy by the way!). It’s one of those where you just can’t stop staring at your nails - and so twinkly it’s the next best thing to a new diamond. Kinda.
The trio includes a raspberry red with fine scarlet glitter. I applied this over another red, but needn’t have as it’s opaque in itself and just delicious. The glitter is super fine and so sparkly, though needs a top coat for in your face shine as the finish is slightly matt.
The silver is whole different ball game - bigger chunks of silver & multi coloured glitter leaving a dazzling jewel encrusted effect which I just love. It didn’t look right over the red so I switched to a black base, but think it would be even better over white or a pale colour. It’s almost opaque in two layers, but a little of the base shows around the edges.
The white is a third different texture - a sparse, fine glitter in an almost clear base, which leaves a subtle, opalescent finish; a little tame compared to the other two but still pretty and a nice contrast.
I did all of my nails in the red glitter and used the silver and white on my ring and baby finger, both over a black base and covered all three with Seche Vite top coat.
Close up with flash to show the different effects. The red glitter sits within the polish, the silver encrusted on the surface (ring finger) and the ‘white’/opal a delicate sprinkling on the surface.
And under a spotlight. This is the first time I’ve tried Pixi polishes, which I’m happy to discover are free from toulene, formeldahyde and DBP.
A lovely little gift for yourself or a friend, I’ll be happy to sparkle my way through Christmas and New Year with this little trio. The set retails at £16, so just over a fiver per polish, which really isn’t bad for such lovely quality, plus it’s available at ASOS where there is 20% off everything today (Sunday 9 Dec), (hence I’m still in my PJs!).
Do you roll out the glitter at Christmas?
