Who says crayons are just for kids? I’ve had so much fun colouring in my eyelids with Clinique’s new Chubby Stick Shadow Tints for Eyes. These creamy shadows - available in 12 shades - can be worn sheer or built up for depth of colour, with a long wearing crease-free finish. If you’re new to makeup or nervous about experimenting with eye colour, I urge you to give these a go… they really are foolproof, gorgeously creamy in texture and flattering with very little effort.
The palm sized packaging is pretty and portable, great for girls on the go! I’ve heard reports of zero creasing from other testers, though personally find these work best with a primer as my hooded lids are particularly prone to creasing. I’ve been testing two colours from the collection…
Fuller Fudge is a soft mushroomy brown, one notch up from taupe, with a subtle gold sheen that’s barely visibly on the skin. I think this would suit most skintones and works well all over the lid, as a liner, or smudged into the socket for a smoky eye.
Ample Amber is a warm deep golden peach and looks lovely alone or paired with Fuller Fudge. This is perfect for an everyday wash of colour and can be sheered out for a really pretty, barely there finish. I think this will come into its own in Spring paired with pastels such as Mighty Moss (soft green), Pink and Plenty (pastel pink) or Lavish Lilac.
The colours blend together beautifully, though by the time I’d photographed the first swatches I needed to add a little more product in order to blend as the shadow had already set - a good test of their staying power! I used my fingers as it was so easy to do so, but am sure even better results could be created with a blending brush.
Chubby Stick Shadow Tints for eyes are available now at Clinique.co.uk and will be on counters from 15 February 2013 rrp £16 each.
Hands up who wants to colour in their eyelids with a Chubby Stick?
