Every Sunday evening a bunch of beauty bloggers discuss all things beauty on twitter... I don’t often participate these days (too many #bbloggers can spoil the lipgloss… or something like that), but what I caught of last night’s was the most enjoyable in a long time. The topic was high end vs drugstore makeup and while my heart clearly lies with high end, I think many cheaper brands are catching up - and one that’s often overlooked is M&S. Maybe it’s competition with the lovelies in its new Beauty Halls, but M&S Beauty has definitely taken things up a notch and come out with some real gems lately.
These two new launches are perfect examples: meet Autograph Pure Luxe Powder Bronzer and Eyeshadow Palette. I think this pic (above) may actually be the highlighter, rather than the (matte) bronzer, but both look lovely - find them here. Don’t you think the detail in the compact is more akin to the likes of Laura Mercier or Estee Lauder than M&S, for less than half the price? Actually it reminds me a lot of this Dior bronzer… and thanks to Sara from Belfast Beauty Love for reminding me about Estee Lauder Modern Mercury (below right) - that’s the one I was thinking of - dupe or what?!
Autograph Eyeshadow Palette
The Autograph Eyeshadow Palette looks to me like a (rather sexier) version of Urban Decay’s Naked Palette. I can’t vouch for the texture, but the tones are so sophisticated and again, very high end looking… the four shades to the left in particular are calling my name. EDIT: I’ve just found swatches of this palette by Jane at British Beauty Blogger here - it doesn’t disappoint.
I think both these pieces are bargainous anyway, but for today only (Mon 4 March) you can snap up the Pure Luxe Bronzer & Highlighter for £11.20 each as part of a at 20% off Mother’s Day promotion. Waaahhh I’ve just noticed the discount applies to the Beauty Hall brands too and I’ve already spent too much on there today (lingerie, PJs & bedlinen!) so better log off immediately and completely ignore the Leighton Denny polishes & Philip Kingsley hair products calling out to me.
Have you tried any M&S beauty products?
