My top pick from Rimmel’s Spring Summer 2013 collection is a stunning set of Salon Pro Nail Polishes, which promise a salon style gel mani finish. Above are five of the shades swatched with a bunch of Apocalips in my clutches - read on for the low down and more pics of the swoony new formula…
I got to meet eight of the 22 shades at last night’s launch event. Nine have been developed in collaboration with Rimmel ambassador, Kate Moss, including the red Hip Hop shade above, as you can see from her signature on the bottle. Cute.
Sorry about the dodgy photo quality… finally I remember to bring my camera to an event, go to take a pic, then realise the memory card is at home, snug inside my laptop - grrr! What you can see is how gorgeously glossy and indeed gel-like these babies are, thanks to the fabulous lighting in Paddy McGurgan’s Make-up Studio in Belfast. The colour, however is a little askew - and much more true in the top pic where I’m holding the Apocalips.
The polish applies smoothly and easily with a well cut wide brush and is opaque in two coats, as above. Summer Orange is very jelly like, a touch more sheer and the star of the show, though my personal favourite of this eight is Peppermint.
Dear Rimmel, thank you for the clearly visible shade names on the front of each bottle… (is it just me or do you hate hunting for the name in miniscule print?) Nail polish names totally set the tone for my feelings towards a particular colour (I’m fickle like that), so I love being able to see it without scrutinising!
Rimmel Apocalips
I can’t resist sharing these pretties as I was really impressed by them. My favourites of the collection are Luna & Galaxy - a Summery peachy coral and deep mauve toned grape. Big Bang is possibly the brightest and most pigmented red I’ve ever tried - and Apocalyptic isn’t far behind as a hot pink equivalent. I’m wearing it now and it’s seriously in your face… even my five year old’s jaw dropped when he saw me wearing it.
In the background of this pic you can just make out some more newbies from Rimmel & NYC, which I’ll share more of very soon! It was so lovely to meet up with some of Northern Ireland’s Fashion & Beauty Bloggers (FABB) again last night… being part of this network has made blogging even more of a joy for me and I really appreciate the support of all the girls, so thank you if you’re reading, especially our SugahMama, Katrina from Sugahfix.com.
Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polishes are already on the Boots website priced at £4.49 each and currently on 3 for 2. Rimmel Apocalips are also on offer at Boots for £4.99 (usually £5.99) *adds to list*
I’ll definitely be availing of these offers - how about you?
