Kiko has released a set of five limited edition, wearable bright lipsticks - Kiko Ultra Glossy Stylo Lipstick Set - which I reckon any girl would love to find under the tree on Christmas morning. Their almost balm-like consistency glides onto lips leaving a sheer, yet pigmented wash of colour - enough to brighten your face, without being too ‘look at me!’ A halfway house between tinted balms and lipsticks, I’d sum them up as the perfect daytime brights.
The packaging is too pretty not to mention and I love the attention to detail, like the colour guide on the box edge.

- 821 Pearly Natural Sand - a warm, peachy-beige nude
- 824 Pearly Peach - more tangerine than peach
- 822 Pearly Calypso Rose - a red toned mid pink
- 823 Pearly Poppy Red - scarlet
- 825 Pearly Hot Pink - gorgeous blue-toned bubblegum pink
For these swatches I used 2-3 layers of colour to show off the shades - and as you can see they’re still quite sheer and nowhere near as full on as you’d initially expect from the bullets. A single layer will of course give an even more subtle effect. I love lipsticks like this as they’re so quick and easy to apply and make me look a bit more alive on grey mornings without requiring the same energy of an opaque red lip. Or is that just me that finds red lipsticks both require energy and give it back in return?
