KIKO Milano Modern Tribes is a limited edition Summer collection featuring soft peachy pink and bronze tones. Beautifully packaged in wood with gold and cream accents, the products are very wearable in soft, muted tones with a few little colour pops thrown in. One item in particular has stolen my heart… keep reading to find out which!
NB the sun was in and out like a yo-yo when I was taking these pics, so apols for the constant changes in lighting.
KIKO Free Spirit Lips & Cheeks #1 + #5, £8.90
KIKO Dawn to Dusk Volume Mascara, £8.90 | KIKO Graphic Ritual Kajal Eyeliner #2 + #3, £6.90
KIKO Free Spirit Lips & Cheeks in #1, peachy nude + #5, deep dusky pink are one of the few formulas I’ve tried that work equally well on both lips and cheeks. Most of these dual products are too creamy for one area or too dry for the other, while these look and feel good on both. Constant lip use might lead to some dryness, but I think you can see how creamy they are from these swatches, with an almost-matte finish. Best part is they are so easy to apply, particularly on lips, though blend easily onto cheeks too. #1 is a touch too nude on my lips (pretty good on cheeks), but #5 was an instant favourite. Oh and they come with their own giant sharpener, a la Bobbi Brown Art Sticks, which really impressed me for a budget brand at less than half price the latter.
I’m not a big wearer of very bright eyeliners, but KIKO Graphic Ritual Kajal Eyeliners kinda make me wish I was... #2 is the prettiest leaf green and #5 a shimmery aqua blue… it’s all very Mermaidesque.
Are you ready for my fave?
KIKO Tri-bal Soul Baked Blush #3 Wild Mauve, £14.90 | Modern Tribe Face Brush £14.90
KIKO Tri-bal Soul Baked Blush #3 Wild Mauve is just an absolute dreamboat of a blush… the three different tones (mauve, coral and pale pink) are large enough to use individually if you wish, though I generally blend them together (this has not left my cheeks for weeks). Use more of the two deeper shades (with the palest as highlight) if your skin tone is deeper, or vice versa on light skins. Blended together, Wild Mauve is a soft dusky pink with a hint of coral and has that glowy, smoothing finish that is just so skin flattering. I included a very light brush swatch above to show how subtle it can be, though the colour can be built up a bit more.
Big shout out to the Modern Tribes Face Brush… I wasn’t expecting much from this as I’m always a bit sceptical about quirky brushes, but was actually really impressed. The ergonomic cut means its bristles hug the cheek contour perfectly, placing blush accurately in one simple sweep. Not sure how it would perform with a highly pigmented product, but with this blush, it works beautifully! If you’re clever, you can use it to place the three shades of this blush as contour, colour pop and highlight with one sweep.
