I’ve been shopping from the beauty blogger inspired wishlist stored on my phone (we all have one, right?) after being gifted some points on my Superdrug Health & Beauty Card. Oh yes… us bloggers are just as susceptible to enabling as the next person - and when someone recommends a product I’m excited about, I note it down for my next beauty shopping session. So I’ve been trying out my new stash over the past few weeks and thought I’d report back on my thoughts.
One that I’ve been most taken by is Bourjois Healthy Balance powder (Vanille #52), initially recommended to me by a twitter follower and since by countless beauty bloggers such as Vivianna Does Makeup. The beauty of this is that it sets makeup and keeps shine away without over mattifying the skin, because who wants cake face? *immediately craves actual cake* I apply mine with a light hand and my favourite Eco Tools Powder Brush (mini version in this set), just to be sure. I picked up the new Bourjois Aqua Laque in Appechissant after seeing swatches on British Beauty Blogger and am loving this non-sticky lip shine for a very wearable everyday shade (more on these soon).
How amazing is this Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements Palette? I’m probably the last beauty blogger on the planet to get around to trying this incredibly innovative budget brand - and this was a great place to start. Totally enabled by Miss Makeup Magpie who compared this to the Urban Decay’s Naked Basics Palettes I’ve had my eye on for a while. Every shade but one is matte and the tones are just beautiful… I did find that it took a bit of effort to blend some colours, but generally, this is amazing value for money. It’s £4 people, no I’m not kidding.
Maybelline Lash Sensationail is the best budget mascara I’ve tried in a long time. This one was actually recommended to me by Look Magazine beauty editor, Samantha Freedman after I did a Google Hangout with her as part of Tesco Beauty Sessions (sidenote: total babe and absolute sweetheart). The curved rubber brush is SO easy to use and gives effortless length and volume in 1-2 coats. It’s been compared to Benefit Roller Lash and having tried both, I can totally see why.
You’ll most likely have spotted these Max Factor Crème Puff blushers elsewhere if you don’t already own one. Famously compared to the much more spendy Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushers, I’m really impressed by the smooth texture and finish of these. I picked up Seductive Pink after repeated swatch comparisons online and instore like a woman obsessed - until Makeup Over Mind’s pushed me over the edge. It’s pretty, but I kinda wish I’d chosen a different shade as this is too similar to some I already have for me to get excited about it (yes sister, if you’re reading, that means you can have this. And buy me another… KIDDING).
Last but not least, Maybelline Super Stay 7 Day nail polish in Mint for Life. I’ve been a huge fan of these polishes since I first discovered them this Autumn/Winter and decided to try a more Summery shade after seeing this one swatched on Lily Pebbles. The formula of these is exceptional - easy to apply with a wide brush and very long lasting, even on someone as hard on polish as me! I have around 5 and will definitely be back for more, starting with this gorgeous new soft blue, Sea Sky.
