When it comes to sunscreen for the body, I have three priorities: adequate protection, ease of application and a comfortable texture on the skin. Skincare benefits, non irritating ingredients and a pleasant scent all earn bonus points! The three that come out tops for me this year are Vita Liberata Dry Oil SPF25, Vichy Ideal Soleil Suncare Oil SPF20 and Eucerin Extra Light Sun Lotion SPF30. I always use my facial sunscreen for my neck and décolletage (SPF30-50) and reach for higher protection (SPF30+) in very hot temperatures or when I’m in the sun for longer periods.
So why these three?…
I’ve always been wary of oily sunscreens, so to include two in my top three can only mean one thing: they don’t leave my skin feeling oily! I selected Vichy Ideal Soleil Suncare Oil SPF20 as it’s simply the lightest oil I’ve ever tried - spray on, massage in and it sinks in as quick as a lotion; no greasy residue. I’d happily use this while wearing a Summer dress, without fear of it touching the fabric - a true dry oil and a good match for the Mattifying Face Fluid I featured here.
Vita Liberata Dry Oil SPF25 can be used on the face, hair and body. This also sinks in quickly, though does leave a bit of a sheen on my skin thanks to nourishing passionflower and argan oils… for this reason I tend to save it for everyday legs or use all over when sunbathing (a rare occasion these days!). PS it smells incredible!
Eucerin Extra Light Sun Lotion SPF30 for sensitive skin has been my go-to in the recent hot weather. As the name suggests, the texture is so lightweight that it’s super quick and easy to apply - and I feel confident that it won’t cause any irritation (I have quite sensitive skin on my body). I’ve used all three of these - and will no doubt use them all up over the Summer, but this is the one I reach for first.
