While we all know that we should use an SPF all year around, most of us make more of an effort to apply it consistently when there's actual sunshine. Which there is, despite today's 5 minute hail storm in the middle of it. I've recently discovered a moisturiser with SPF which I reckon will convert sunscreen avoiders everywhere (I know you're out there!).
Perricone MD Photo Plasma is a moisturiser with a mineral-based, broad spectrum SPF30 to guard against UVA and UVB damage. It also contains Alpha Lipoic Avid and Vitamin C Ester to improve the appearance of pores and brighten skin texture. This combination makes it great for sensitive skin that's prone to dryness and anyone with concerns about the effects of ageing. That'll be me then.
"helps protect against the 10 most common skin aggressors: sun exposure, dehydration, pollution, harsh wind, excessive heat, extreme cold, heavy metals, smoke, stress and chemical irritants."
A few things make this really special. First up, it has the most luxurious texture of any moisturiser or SPF that I've tried... a silky, whipped mousse that melts into the skin leaving a beautiful sheen. Although mineral based, there is zero white cast from this...in fact the finish is almost pearlised, though not shimmery as such. Oily skins may not be fans for this reason (though it is oil free), but glow-boosting is always a bonus in my book and I find that this makes a beautiful base for foundation.
It is pricey, but for a 2 in 1 luxury skincare product that is a pleasure to use and leaves skin peachy, protected and glowing, I think it's worth it. I prefer to use a separate SPF in the height of Summer or when spending prolonged periods of time in direct sunlight, but for these in between months, this is perfect.
Perricone MD Photo Plasma SPF30 is available here (10% off at the moment) or as part of a set with 3 other products for £20 extra here. (US readers will find it at Sephora).
